Frances is not very excited about The Competition. She really wants to win the forty thousand dollars from The Competition. She has some problems in her life and the forty thousand dollars from The Competition could fix them. Her old mentor, Keith is also competing in The Competition. Keith thinks the club should be about helping people grow, not about the forty thousand dollars from The Competition. Then there is Neil, who only joins The Competition because his mother forces him to. Suddenly Frances sees Rebecca, a girl from her past who she never wanted to meet again. 

The book is full of moments and funny characters. The Competition is an happy read about people who are not perfect but are trying their best to find their voice.
