Amazing Monster Detectoscope

About the Book

Amazing Monster Detectoscope by Graeme Base is an interactive picture book that turns an ordinary house into a world of hidden monsters. When a young canine hero uses his Amazing Monster DetectoScope, he discovers that mysterious creatures are hiding beneath the sofa, inside cupboards and in other everyday places.

A Monster-Hunting Adventure

The story combines rhyming text with Graeme Base’s richly detailed illustrations. Children are invited to look closely through the DetectoScope viewfinder and discover the strange creatures hidden throughout the scenes, making the reading experience interactive as well as entertaining.

Facing Childhood Fears

Alongside its humour and visual puzzles, the story explores the familiar childhood experience of being afraid of what might be hiding in ordinary places. The young hero must find the courage to confront the monsters he discovers.
